The great return of METEF, one of the world’s leading trade events for the aluminium industry, in Bologna in 2021 with new projects and important synergies
Veronafiere and BolognaFiere are to create a joint venture (spilt 50:50) for METEF, the international expo focused on technology for the aluminium, foundry castings and innovative metals industry.
The event, which was launched in Italy in 1997 by Edimet as the world’s first ever trade event for the aluminium industry, was initially a joint project before being acquired in its entirety in 2017 by the Verona exhibition centre. The expo has an international scope that in its most recent edition in Verona in 2017, played host to 400 exhibiting companies and more than 11 thousand professional operators from the sector, 40% of whom came from outside Italy from 63 different countries.
Now, through this partnership agreement, Veronafiere and BolognaFiere will propose a new version of METEF, updating both the structure and the location of the event. The next edition, in fact, will be taking place from 25 to 27 March 2021 at the Exhibition Centre in Bologna, a city that, just like its counterpart in the Veneto region, is perfectly connected and equipped with every type of infrastructure, while also of central importance from an industrial, commercial and cultural perspective. The other significant new feature concerns the exhibition context: METEF 2021, in fact, will be taking place at the same time as, and alongside, MECSPE, the reference event for the Italian manufacturing industry and for smart manufacturing. More than 56 thousand professional operators attended the most recent edition, and in 2021 the event will also change venues, transferring from Parma to Bologna.
The joint initiative between BolognaFiere and Veronafiere concerning METEF and MECSPE is intended to promote at international level a compartment of extraordinary social and economic relevance. In production terms, the metal industry and advanced manufacturing generate substantial sums – the aluminium and innovative metals industry alone, in fact, is worth 11 billion euros. Moreover, this partnership highlights the determining role that fair events play, and must play, as promoters of skills and sectorial expertise that has substantial strategic value.
“The international scenarios require the creation of highly specialized exhibition platforms focused on promoting the culture of innovation and supporting corporate business strategies,” announced Antonio Bruzzone, General Manager of BolognaFiere. “These are important goals that the leading players in the trade fair sector can achieve also through forming alliances and partnerships that make the most of respective know-how and particular specializations in order to best serve national and international businesses.”
“In a global, European and Italian trade fair market that is continuously evolving, an alliance between organisers is an asset that Veronafiere’s industrial and development plan has pinpointed in order to achieve its fixed targets,” underlined General Manager of Veronafiere Giovanni Mantovani. “A strategy that aims to promote the fair as a development tool for awareness and business.”
“The new agreement will strengthen the business opportunities offered to exhibiting companies from the diverse industries represented: materials, machinery and equipment, products, manufacturing, assembly and surface finishing of foundry castings, die castings, extrusion and lamination,” stressed President of METEF Mario Conserva. “Furthermore, the partnership aims to support various trade associations within the METEF umbrella, worth highlighting in particular is the active role of Amanfond (the Italian association for foundry suppliers).”
