From a pool of banks coordinated by Banco BPM €75 million for the BolognaFiere expansion and development plan

The financing transaction – lasting 12 years and totalling €75 million – is aimed at supporting the Group’s industrial development plan and in particular the expansion and renovation of the Bologna exhibition centre. The banks that make up the pool are Banco BPM, which acted as Agent Bank and Custodian Bank, Intesa Sanpaolo/Banca IMI, MPS, BPER, Unicredit and BNL.

An important transaction has been concluded involving a €75 million loan to the BolognaFiere Group from a banking pool coordinated by Banco BPM. The President of BolognaFiere, Gianpiero Calzolari, and the Central-Northern Corporate Market Manager of Banco BPM, Luca Mazzini, were present at the signing.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to conclude this transaction together with the pool of banks coordinated by Banco BPM, an excellent partner that supports the development and growth strategies of our Group – commented Gianpiero Calzolari, President of BolognaFiere – the loan is a crucial element in the expansion and redevelopment plan for the entire Bologna exhibition centre, in which we are investing with the aim of creating a cutting-edge district to further boost the competitiveness of our events, our partners and for the benefit of the whole local area.”

“Exhibition centres represent an important reserve for economic development, with tangible repercussions on a myriad of productive activities –commented Luca Mazzini, Central-Northern Corporate Market Manager for Banco BPM For this reason, through the Central-Northern Corporate Market and the Bologna Corporate Centre, the Bank is particularly pleased to be playing an active role in this transaction, a significant element in the growth plan for the Fair, one of the points of excellence for the city, the region and Italy as a whole.” The financing transaction, which sees the participation of the main Italian banking groups (Intesa Sanpaolo/Banca IMI, MPS, BPER, Unicredit, BNL) coordinated by Banco BPM, aims to support the development of the plan of investments scheduled by 2024. These amount to a total of €138 million and fall under the 2020 industrial plan, whose objective is to reach a Group turnover of €200 million, on one hand thanks to the expansion and redevelopment of the Bologna exhibition centre and on the other through further growth on international markets that already currently represent over a third of turnover, meaning BolognaFiere is in first place in Italy in terms of the share of revenue coming from outside Italy.
