BolognaFiere has announced a further development in the company’s business that is paving the way to new commercial opportunities: BFS (BolognaFiere Servizi) is expanding its perimeter of action, further extending the spheres in which the company is active.
For the BolognaFiere Group, the second largest group in Italy and one of the largest in Europe, specialization and verticalization have always been key features of its development strategy.
And this approach has led to the formation of a group that involves the presence of companies with substantial know-how in different fields of the exhibition chain and with strategic capabilities to ensure the success of those events and to boost the performance of exhibiting companies.
Examples of this are BF China, the company dedicated to the creation of events in Asia and actions targeted towards incoming Asian operators; BF Congressi dedicated to the congress business; BolognaFiere COSMOPROF, the company with significant expertise in the sector of beauty/cosmetics and which heads the largest global network of events dedicated to this important trade sector.
It is with this approach that BolognaFiere announces a further development of company business that paves the way for new commercial opportunities: BFS (BolognaFiere Servizi) is expanding its perimeter of action, further extending the fields in which it operates.
Founded in 2004, the company has developed extensive know-how in the planning and staging of fair events, highlighted by the growth in its revenues that in 2019 amounted to 50 million euros, making the company the leader in the sector at national level. There have also been various acquisitions of exhibition staging companies – from GPlanet to Dateci Spazio – that in recent years have consolidated and enhanced the capabilities of BFS, demonstrating its dynamism and vocation to acquire new spaces and capabilities for the company.
This leadership has led the company to intervene, with increasing frequency – and notable responsiveness – also in fields outside of the trade fair compartment, highlighting the team’s potential and its capacity for growth through seizing new opportunities for action.
In the recent past the BFS group has played a leading role in important interventions, including the creation of extraordinary spaces dedicated to the treatment of Covid to support the hospital structures in the Campania region; the creation of classrooms in pavilion 33 of the Bologna Exhibition Centre to accommodate secondary school classes during the Covid-19 emergency; the planning and staging of pavilion 19 made available to the Bologna Business School (BSS); the creation of the Humanitas spaces in Milan. While in the sector of pro sports, BF Servizi is the official staging partner of the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) and partner of Virtus Pallacanestro for whom it created PalaSegafredo basketball at the Bologna Exhibition Centre.
This pathway of growth has seen the creation of a new organization of the company’s spheres of intervention, operating through two business units, the first is focused on the core business – BFS Allestimenti (Event Staging) – the second is specialized in the management of “containers” (of any type) – BFS Facility Management – that is responsible for all support services for holding events (primarily trade fair events, but not only).
Within the umbrella of this second Business Unit are the capabilities involved in security, ticketing, controlling access, cleaning services, etc. that make up new the intervention lines of BFS and that, according to the economic forecasts, stand to bring BFS a further increase in revenues of 15 million euros by the end of the next two-year cycle.
With this new definition of the perimeter of action, the company will be able to participate, with increased possibilities, in the markets for the complete management of events of any nature (sports, theme parks, musical events, shows…) and can count on a workforce of around 100 employees with skills and experience in the management of large events as well as more than 170 in the Business Unit for event staging.
This new set up for BFS is the result of an industrial policy intervention at group level that, by expanding its own areas of action, also makes it possible to accelerate the recovery of activities in the post-pandemic period through new opportunities in the sector that, presumably, could begin again before the full normalization of the calendar for large international trade fair events.
