UFI, THE GLOBAL ASSOCIATION OF THE EXHIBITION INDUSTRY, HAS ELECTED A NEW BOARD THAT INCLUDES BOLOGNAFIERE’S INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR, GIORGIO CONTINI

The latest international statistics for the exhibition and trade fair sector have highlighted the importance of the Italian trade fair system, which lies in second place in Europe (after Germany) and among the best worldwide. The appointment to the Board of Directors of UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) of Italian representatives (managers from the leading national exhibition centres) is a further demonstration.

One of the new appointments to the new Board of UFI, the association of 740 associates from 85 countries, is Giorgio Contini, BolognaFiere’s International Director, who was recently appointed also to the board of EMECA (European Major Exhibition Centres Association).

This appointment is further acknowledgement of the experience and strategic expertise of the national exhibition system, and of BolognaFiere in particular, that has shown a capacity to continuously renew the format of its own excellent events, helping them to become leading international appointments.

The international involvement with UFI will bring further opportunities to analyse international trends, potential lines of development for the exhibition industry and more innovative services to offer exhibiting companies, professional operators and visitors in order to support the business.

“For BolognaFiere,” announced President Gianpiero Calzolari, “having our representative elected to the Board of Directors of UFI is an important acknowledgment and further testament to our internationally recognised know-how. Having a constructive role and opportunities for discussion as part of the global association of exhibition centres, will constitute a further opportunity for the enhancement of the national trade fair system and improve the positioning and strategy for Italian and foreign businesses.”

As part of its activities UFI organizes a large Annual Congress and two annual conferences: one for Europe, which takes place in the May and involves 200 professional participants, and one for the Asia-Pacific area.
