THE LARGE EVENTS CONFIRM BOLOGNAFIERE’S ROLE AS A STRATEGIC PARTNER Renewals of multi-year contracts with event organizers and cooperation agreements

Important renewals of multi-year contracts, which were approaching their expiries, for the organization of large  reference  events  with  some  of  the  main  national  industries,  further  consolidate  BolognaFiere’s position as a reference exhibition centre for Italian manufacturing.

Ceramics, agricultural mechanics, the automobile industry, cosmetics and beauty, health and the Built Environment are just some of the industrial sectors that have seen the establishment of events in Bologna that today are leading worldwide appointments.

In recent months BolognaFiere has renewed contracts that were reaching their conclusions, establishing multi-year agreements, ensuring continuity in the company’s core business and confirming the importance of BolognaFiere to the economic development strategies of the Italian business system.

The main renewals have involved:

•    Confindustria Ceramica for CERSAIE, the International Exhibition for Ceramics, Architecture and Bathroom Fixtures and Furnishings. In its 36th edition in 2017, CERSAIE attracted over 111.000 visitors and experienced a significant increase in the number of national (+5%) and international (+4.3%) operators; 869 exhibiting companies were present (+17% compared with 2016), of which almost one third (323) were foreign.

BolognaFiere and Cosmetica renew their collaboration agreement

The first six months of 2017 also saw the renewal of the agreement between BolognaFiere and Cosmetica Italia, a collaboration that over the years has become a fully-fledged partnership also involving the international platform Cosmoprof. The partnership was renewed for a period of 5 years in line also with the revamping project of the Bologna Exhibition Centre, the purpose of which was to improve the exhibition spaces and make the Bologna Centre increasingly competitive.

The agreement further reinforces the synergy between Cosmoprof and Cosmetica Italia, which have been working together for years to offer Italian cosmetics businesses new opportunities through innovative initiatives, updated services and original promotional activities.

THE EXPANSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION NETWORK CONTINUES

The development of international activities has always represented one of the main drivers of the development strategy of BolognaFiere, the first national exhibition centre to export its own leading events to global markets and attract foreign incoming operators and exhibitors to its own events, also by activating synergic partnerships with leading institutions.

The revenues generated by this sector have underlined the importance and the know-how acquired by BolognaFiere in terms of internationalization. The 2016 Balance recorded 36.7 million euros from joint ventures  abroad  (consolidated  proportionally)  concerning  Cosmoprof  North  America  (Las  Vegas)  and

Cosmoprof Asia (Hong Kong), to which can be added the 8 million in revenues from BF China, the Group’s company that operates in China and on Asian markets.

COSMOPROF, LEADER IN INTERNATIONALIZATION

The Cosmoprof exhibition network, the undisputed leader in terms of internationalization that proposes, alongside  Cosmoprof  Worldwide  Bologna, COSMOPROF  ASIA  in  Hong  Kong  and  COSMPROF  NORTH AMERICA in Las Vegas, has seen a further expansion with the establishment in 2017 of new events and the planning of further new developments for the coming years.

The new events for 2017 involve two countries that are commercially strategic for the world of cosmetics and beauty: Iran and Columbia with IRAN BEAUTY& CLEAN in Teheran (in April) and BELEZA Y SALUD South America (in September in Bogota).

Two new events are planned for 2018, one in San Paolo in Brazil and the other in Mumbai in India, where in September COSMOPROF INDIA is due to take place.

2018 will also see the beginning of a programme of initiatives specifically for the countries of South East Asia that will be promoted with the brand “Beauty” and will involve Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.

To complete the three-year plan of expansion of the COSMOPROF network, in 2019 attention will turn to Africa with dedicated initiatives.

NEW INITIATIVES IN ITALY AND ABROAD ALSO IN THE SECTORS OF CHILDREN’S PUBLISHING, PACKAGING, PETS AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

BolognaFiere’s commercial development plan concerns all sectors of the company’s exhibition portfolio with the aim of identifying the best performing areas and those with the greatest potential for growth. The new  initiatives that have  been  developed  in  the  first  months  of  2017  have  involved  the sectors  of publishing, packaging, pet products and those for the Built Environment.

- From  the  experience  of  the  CHILDREN’S  BOOK  FAIR,  the  leading  event  worldwide  for  children’s publishing products, which each year brings to Bologna 1,200 publishers (1,100 of whom are foreign), and the analysis of the potential areas for development, the project of a new event dedicated to the trade in publishing rights in the United States, was established. NEW YORK RIGHTS FAIR (30 May – 1 June 2018) is a new initiative that BolognaFiere is launching with important partners, such as Publishers Weekly (the large international information platform for the publishing sector), The Combined Book Exhibit and PubMatch, the leading online platform for the sale of intellectual property rights.

- Further  internationalization  projects  concern  the  sector  of  PACKAGING  with  the  expansion  of COSMOPACK in Asia, in HONG KONG in 2017 and the following year in LAS VEGAS.

- Other new developments concern the pet sector for which BolognaFiere organizes ZOOMARK INTERNATIONAL, a biennial reference event for Europe that in its latest edition (2017) underlined its success with growth of 36% in the number of foreign buyers and operators (from over 100 countries) and 735 exhibitors, 479 of whom were foreign (+17% compared with 2015). In November 2017 ZOOMARK INTERNTIONAL will be held in Shanghai as part of the largest exhibition in the Asian continent dedicated to the world of pets (CIPS- China International Pet Show) to present the excellence, quality and innovation of Italian products for pets and domestic animals. In 2018 further initiatives are due to take place in the USA, Russia and Columbia.

- Great Success also for the first edition of DIGITAL&BIM ITALIA the event for the digitalization of the construction sector, established thanks to the experience with SAIE, the International Exhibition for the Construction Industry that has expanded its field of action to include companies, professionals, businesses, commissioning authorities and start-ups.

For  the  4000  professionals  that  attended  the  event,  BolognaFiere  offered important  opportunities, including professional refresher courses and a programme of conventions and workshops with over 40 appointments involving 250 speakers.

A NEW IMPETUS FOR THE PORTFOLIO OF EVENTS

The plus sign has been ever present in the final balances of the events directed by BolognaFiere that have recorded significant increases in exhibitor numbers and visitor numbers, in particular the numbers of international buyers and operators.

The positive trends that have been highlighted can also be attributed to a programme of repositioning of the events, which are already European leaders, aimed at offering new business opportunities for an even better position.

Renewed focus and new development strategies have involved, in particular:

•    SANA – the International Exhibition of Natural and Organic Products

•    MARCA - The Private Label Conference and Exhibition

•    ARTE FIERA – The International Fair for Modern and Contemporary Art

•    SAIE – The International Building Exhibition

•    MOTOR SHOW – The International Motor Show

Without forgetting, obviously, COSMOPROF, COSMOPACK, THE CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR and ZOOMARK INTERNATIONAL

The  development  strategies  have  planned  a  further  upgrading  of  the management  activities  of  the Exhibition Centre. The BolognaFiere Group today manages the Exhibition Centres in Bologna, Modena and Ferrara to which can be added, following the establishment of a new company with the Bari Chamber of Commerce, the management of the exhibition activities of the Fiera del Levante that will enable the development of initiatives concerning in particular the Mediterranean area.
